A Mombasa-based businesswoman was on Tuesday robbed Sh1.5 million at gunpoint in Majengo area. According to Baraka FM, the businesswoman, whose identity is yet to be disclosed, had just withdrawn Sh1.1 million from Equity bank with the intention of buying second-hand clothes before she was attacked by three armed robbers. The armed robbers made away with over Sh1.5 million in cash after forcing their way into her warehouse.Confirming the incident, Mombasa urban police boss Lucas Ogara said security officers have launched investigations into the robbery incident. The local daily reported that the suspects had parked a motorbike outside the premises before storming the warehouse and pointed a gun at the victim and other persons.Another woman, who was at the workshop during the robbery incident, claimed she was robbed Sh300, 000 that she had collected from her customers.Police said the suspects who were armed with an AK 47 rifle, left the motorbike outside the shop and escaped using a tuk-tuk which was parked outside the warehouse.“We have taken care of the motorcycle which was left by the gunmen, we are now hunting them as we are pursuing crucial leads,” said Ogara.
