An MP from Kiambu has told embattled Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula to 'buy senators tea' and apologize if he wants to retain his Senate Minority seat.
Kimani Ichung'wa (Kikuyu, Jubilee) said on Saturday that Wetangula can still gain back his seat if he "talks well" to NASA senators who ousted him from the prestigious position.
"I strongly believe that Wetangula can still regain his seat. Let him convene a Parliamentary Group meeting for NASA senators in a good hotel, buy them tea and apologize," Ichung'wa a close ally of President Uhuru Kenyatta said.
"I don;t think if he apologizes they will insist on taking away that seat from him," he added.
Wetangula was on Monday removed from his Senate Minority Seat on Senate Speaker Kenneth Lusaka's order and replaced by Siaya Senator James Orengo.
The development followed continued complaints from NASA senators that the former Foreign Affairs Cabinet Minister was disrespectful to them.
They claimed Wetangula does not treat them with the respect they deserve as people's elected representatives in the Senate.
All NASA allied Senators approved his ouster before he lost the seat after a stormy meeting last week.
Opposition leader Raila Odinga on Wednesday convened a meeting in Nairobi where NASA senators were given 14 days to deliberate on the matter and agree on the way forward.
There was a backlash against Raila in Bungoma when residents learnt of Wetangula's ouster.
