Nyong'o had stated that the National Super Alliance (Nasa) governors had agreed the demos to be held only in Nairobi county, adding that they will be held in Kisumu if called for by NASA or ODM. “I don’t think Governor Nyong’o has banned protests. All that the governor is saying is that let’s use the constitutional right to picket responsibly without impacting negatively to the economy of the region,” Buyu said, Thursday. The ODM legislator noted that criminals take advantage during the protests to cause mayhem and destroy property.“During the demonstrations, we have elements who take advantage to go on a looting spree. What the governor is saying that amongst the NASA supporters, there must be stewards who will ensure that the protests are conducted in a responsible manner,” she said.Buyu called on the residents to maintain peace so as to attract tourists in the county. “Kisumu has some of the most beautiful tourist attractions in the country. But we can’t expect visitors when there is a perception that the place is not safe. We have to tame the protests first, then visitors will come,” she noted.
