Uasin Gishu gubernatorial hopeful Zedekiah Bundotich alias Buzeki has rubbished Deputy President William Ruto's call to shelve his political ambitions in favour of governor Jackson Mandago.
The DP made the appeal to the millionaire business during his tour of the County on Saturday.
But in a quick rejoinder, Buzeki maintained that he would not back down, insisting that he would still gun for the county's top seat during the forthcoming general elections.
"I am an independent and that is final. He has cast his dice...I will cast mine too...No backing off. If Ruto supports what Mandago stands for then we now know him well," he noted.
"Democracy must prevail. If he wins I will accept the results and back him but the likely result is that he will lose. Let him get ready to accept that and support me," he added.
Buzeki controversially lost the Jubilee Party ticket to Mandago during the primaries.
He, however, jumped ship and will be seeking to unseat Mandago as an independent candidate.
