A businessman in Eldoret town has recorded a statement with the police accusing Uasin Gishu gubernatorial aspirant Bundotich Kiprop Buzeki of failing to pay Sh1 million for printing of his campaign material.
The businessman, Emanuel Barkutwo of Kemlink Capitals claims despite being awarded the tender to print posters, billboards and other materials for Buzeki's campaigns, he has not been paid.
Speaking in Eldoret, Sunday, Barkutwo said he was forced to seek legal intervention after a Sh100,000 cheque issued to him as a down payment by Buzeki bounced.
"He asked me to print his manifestos urgently but I insisted that he pays first and this is when he wrote a cheque of Sh100,000 which when it bounced I became suspicious and now I am not sure of the other payments. This is why I have been forced to record a statement with the police," Barkutwo told the press.
However, a member of the billionaire business mogul's campaign Secretariat Ben Metto dismissed the allegations which he termed as mere propaganda being spread by the competitors.
"We find it a bit odd for someone to come out on Sunday claiming he has not been paid.
As far as we are concerned we have four suppliers; others have been paid and we are in the process of paying others and if someone has an issue he/she needs to follow the right channel instead of allowing to be used as a tool for political assassination," said Metto.
