Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago has claimed that his main competitor Zedekiah Bundotich better known as Buzeki is planing to circulate hate leaflets in Eldoret town ahead of the August polls.

This, the governor said is a ploy by Buzeki's team to portray him as tribal in the eyes of the non-Kalenjin voters in the county.

Speaking in Eldoret, Saturday, during the marking of cooperatives day, Mandago asked the police to investigate and take appropriate actions against the billionaire businessman.

"Those competing against me are now planing to circulate leaflets telling people from certain communities that they are not needed in this county. We know this is calculated move to portray me as tribalist," noted the governor.

"I want to ask residents working in hotels, bars and shops to report anybody seen dropping a leaflet so that he/she can be arrested for those behind the dirty schemes to face the full force of the law," he added.

Mandago and Buzeki are  engaged in a fierce battle with both working to get a share of the Non-Kalenjin votes in the county that is largely inhabited by the Kalenjin community.

Analysts believe the non-Kalenjin voters will play a critical role in determining who between the two wins the gubernatorial seat in August polls.
