Uasin Gishu gubernatorial candidate Bundotich Zedekiah Kiprop alias 'Buzeki' has dismissed claims that he is Deputy President William Ruto's project.

Buzeki, who has mounted a strong challenge against Governor Jackson Mandago, says he never consulted DP Ruto before declaring his intention to vie for the seat.

Speaking during an interview at Citizen TV, Monday night, the billionaire businessman claimed he was branded a project by his rival who wanted to use propaganda to win the seat.

"I have never been anyone's project, never will I be. Those pedling this propaganda are individuals who cannot survive politically on their own, they must ride on someone's name," noted Buzeki.

"When I decided to vie for this seat, I never called DP Ruto, not even did I SMS as it was my personal decision," he added.

During the campaigns before the Jubilee party nominations, Governor Jackson Mandago and Kapseret legislator Osca Sudi claimed powerful individuals in the office of the Deputy President had a list of preferred candidates they wanted to win in the North Rift region among them Buzeki.
