The Cabinet has approved Sh33.4 billion to fund two big projects at the heart of Jubilee's campaign plunk.

The allocations confirmed President Uhuru Kenyatta's bid to win voters ahead of the repeat presidential election next month.

In the supplementary budget, some Sh25 billion will go to fund free day secondary education while Sh6.5 billion will be in a special kitty for the elderly starting January next year.

These were key promises in President Uhuru Kenyatta's campaign ahead of the August 8 elections.

About Sh1.9 billion will be used to settle people displaced in the 2007-08 post-election violence.

While seeking to actualise a complete free day secondary education in Kenya, the Cabinet signed Sh25 billion for the programme to be rolled out starting January 2018.

"The requisite infrastructure will be provided through government initiatives that will lead to 100 per cent transition from primary to secondary school," said the Cabinet in a statement.
