As Jubilee prepares to take over for a second term, lobbying for cabinet slots has intensified with the fate of several members of the cabinet remaining uncertain.

It will be shocking if Dr Fred Matiang’i heading the Education ministry and acting as Interior and Coordination of National Government is left out from the new listing of cabinet secretaries.

It is unexpected to see the Energy CS Charles Keter and Amina Mohamed of Foreign Affairs and International Trade tilted to any side of the shift as they are seen to have been top performers.

As the deputy president William Ruto’s eyes stay glued to the presidency in 2022, his options for appointment to the cabinet shall seek to punch holes in opposition strongholds as the coast and western Kenya regions.

Coast Jubilee party officials led by Mombasa Jubilee Party chairman Matano Che ngo seem to be open at heart but guide that the appointment is based on integrity, experience and academic qualifications.

““Government jobs belong to all Kenyans and I expect to see qualified people appointed as opposed to flower girls banking on political party affiliation. I am confident Uhuru will do his best,” Chengo said.

At the coast, uncertainty stands in the way for Mining CS Dan Kazungu and his tourism counterpart Najib Balala as Mombasa gubernatorial race losers former county senator Hassan Omar and Suleiman Shabhal are flagged to cabinet positions. Kilifi North MP Gedion Mung’aro’and immediate former Taita Taveta governor John Mruttu are among those likely to be picked.

Information, Communication and Technology CS Joe Mucheru and Attorney General Githu Muigai are said to be on the retained servants while several recent defectors from NASA across western Kenya and lower Easter drool for appointment.
