Cabinet Secretaries who served in President Uhuru Kenyatta’s government first term are set to go home with Sh14.6 Million each.
The money is in gratuity payment when a new government is formed.
The CSs to benefit from the money are Henry Rotich (National Treasury), Raychelle Omamo (Defence), James Macharia (Health), Amina Mohamed (Foreign Affairs), Fred Matiang’i (Education), Jacob Kaimenyi (Lands) and Phylis Kandie (East African Affairs).
Principal Secretaries (PSs) – who are the administrative heads at each State department – have also earned lucrative exit packages of Sh11.8 Million each.
The send off p[ackages now means that taxpayers will part with approximately Sh208.2 Million.
Sh365.5 Million will be used to pay 41 PSs.
Those who took office in December 2015 following a reshuffle such as
CSs Charles Keter, Willy Bett, Sicily Kariuki, Joe Mucheru, Dan Kazungu, Cleopa Mailu, and Mwangi Kiunjuri will get a farewell package of Sh5.7 Million each since they took office in December 2015.
The money is part of scheme designed by the salaries and renumeration commission.
