Mariashoni residents in Nakuru County have criticized electricity connection in the area, citing the exclusion of the main facilities.

They said launching of the project by the Cabinet Secretary for energy Charles Keter was rushed since it did not involve stakeholders from the region.

"The comprehensive program could have been followed by the CS to see main facilities such as hospitals, schools and business centers are connected to electricity," said Geoffrey Munguriu.

"Mariashoni hospital which serves over 10,000 people from the three wards is not fully operational because it is not connected to the electricity and business centers are in darkness," he added.

He also said that the maternity which serves a number of women but with no connection of electricity, was likely to affect birth rates.
