The Communication Authority of Kenya has warned that those who vandalise telecommunication masts will be met with the full force of the law.
In a press conference, the authority's Director General Francis Wangusii said that the NASA boycott had resulted in the vandalism of masts in Kakamega and Kisumu counties.
''Over 70 billion shillings is required to close the existing ICT gap in Kenya. The recently experienced vandalism of ICT infrastructure is, therefore, retrogressing all efforts to ensure all Kenyans access communication services.'' Wangusi said.
Wangusi's words come in the context of a boycott of Safaricom products by NASA supporters.
He said that the vandalism was affecting not just Safaricom but other telecommunication operators.
