The locals lament that cases of motorists over-speeding and causing accidents are on the rise.

Speaking to this writer on Wednesday, the residents alleged that motorists using the roads in the area were flouting traffic regulations.

“Traffic police should step up their work and take action against motorists who are flouting road regulations,” said Peter Amwayi.

Mr Amwayi said that many most motorists over speed and don’t observe road signs that have been erected on the roads.

“Cases of accidents as a result of over-speeding by motorists are steadily rising and it is important for traffic enforcers to take action,” said Samson Karanja, a trader at Limuru town center.

Mr Karanja also urged the Kenya National Highways Authority (KenHa) and the Kiambu county government to erect more bumps along the Limuru-Kijabe-Lari road.

He observed that existing bumps are worn-out making it easy for rogue motorists to flout traffic regulations.

On Tuesday a middle aged woman was hit and killed by a Toyota Hiace Nissan Matatu as she crossed the road at Ngarariga trading center.

The woman died while she was being rushed to Tigoni Mission hospital for treatment.
