Kisumu County Assembly nominated MCA Jane Omollo is now appealing to Kenya National Highway Authority (KeNHA) to erect bumps along the Kisumu Kericho highway.
Ms Omollo said the bumps will help regulate the of motorists along the road.
She spoke after six school children were killed by a speeding vehicle that veered off the road and rolled on them on Tuesday this week.
The MCA who hails from Awasi/Onjiko ward says the road that is still new, is so smooth and that makes drivers to over speed.
She said there are many schools, churches and markets along the road and the bumps will help to monitor over speeding.
“This is a passionate appeal am sending out to the relevant authorities to compel the road construction company to put more bumps on the road,” she said.
Speaking to the press at the Kisumu County Assembly grounds on Thursday, Omollo said farmers have lost quite a number of animals along that same road.
She said many lives have been lost and the erection of the bumps will bring to an end the unnecessary loss of lives.
Omollo condoled with the families of those who lost their loved ones and asked them to remain in prayers.
She further called upon the government to ensure justice prevails for the families of the six children who were killed.
“I hope this matter will be expedited and brought to its conclusion to allow families to get justice and even payments from the insurance firm,” she said.
