After failing to clinch the Uasin Gishu gubernatorial seat in the August 8 polls, billionaire businessman Zedekiah Bundotich, popularly known as Buzeki, is now asking locals to give him the title 'Future Governor' (FG).

Buzeki narrowly lost in a tightly contested race after mounting well-oiled campaigns that had rattled Governor Jackson Mandago.

He, however, conceded defeat and pledged to support Mandago. But speaking at the Sacred Heart Cathedral in Eldoret during the funeral mass for the late Bishop Cornelius Korir, Friday, Buzeki indicated that he would be trying his luck for the second time in the gubernatorial seat.

"I lost to Mandago and pledged to support him but for now I ask that you (locals) give me the title future governor," said Buzeki amid cheers and claps from hundreds of mourners.

"To my brother Mandago, I also expect your support when that time comes," he added.

Governor Mandago who had given Buzeki the opportunity to address mourners in response said, "I will go and think about that request."

Already several politicians have expressed interests to vying for the Uasin Gishu gubernatorial seat in 2022 among them Kenyan Ambassador to Pakistan Prof. Julius Bitock who lost to Mandago in 2013 United Republican Party (URP) nominations and Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi.
