Speaking early this week in Nyansiongo during county agriculture trade fair, Executive Committee Member for Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries Mrs Peris Mong’are said  the county has put measure in place to help farmers adopt the modern techniques.

"As a county, we have measures in place which will help farmers adopt this mode of farming so that we can have more agricultural products,” she said.

She added that the county has been able to give farmers daily breeds of cows and goats as she encourage farmers to continue with the farming so that they can generate money.

The minister added that livestock and fisheries production has played an important role in boosting food security as well as livelihoods in the region.

Mrs Mong’are insisted that the county government is encouraging the use of artificial insemination and other modern breeding technologies.

On poultry production, the minister said the county government is investing in upgrading of indigenous chicken, dual purpose poultry.

The function was attended with exhibitors from various sectors of agriculture who take time to teach other farmers about modern technology and products.
