Addressing journalists on Thursday at Huduma centre in Nyamira town where the exercise is ongoing, County Health director Jack Magara said they are looking for 100 units of blood to be on stand-by in the health centres.

Magara noted that many road accidents happen in December, resulting in loss of blood for the casualities, hence the need to equip hospitals with enough stock.

“Already we have collected 20 units of blood in this campaign and I am appealing to residents to turn out in large numbers to donate blood here at Huduma centre,” added Magara.

“Anybody aged between 18 –70 years can donate blood, so don't shy away even as we strive to save patients lives,” he added.

The exercise will run until Sunday.
