[Photo|PPB]Under the Kenya Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB), pharmacists in Kenya marked the World Pharmacists Day, Friday September 22, 2017.A walk to sensitise members of the public on ethical disposal of expired medicines found in homes and dire effects of improper disposal was held in Nairobi County's Milimani area. The Acting Registrar Dr Fred Siyoi, Representative Dr Obadiah Naikuni flagged off the pharmacists walk at PPB headquarters, Lenana road and disclosed that the Board had developed drug disposal guidelines for health care professionals who are sensitised regularly.He urged members of the public to cooperate with the stakeholders in bringing the expired medicines in their possession to the outlined drop points as listed; Pharmaceutical Society of Kenya (PSK), Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB), Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH), Nairobi Hospital and designated supermarkets.The event was organised in partnership with PSK and MY DAWA and attended by hospital pharmacists, retail pharmacists and pharmacy students.
