Naivasha residents ushered the New Year with calls for the government to improve on the country’s state of security.
The residents cited that the year 2014 was the worst year when it came to criminal gangs and terrorists attacks cases in the country.
A resident by the name Amos Chege said that most of people from his area could not work in peace and even travel claiming that doing such was a nightmare to them since according to him, it was a risk of posing oneself to a possible attack by goons.
“The frequent attacks by Al-Shaabab in the country left us in a state of suspense and we lived in constant fears of being attacked or killed,” said Chege.
In his New Year message, Dr. Bishop Joseph Wambugu of the Bread of New Life Church called on the government to invest more in security to reduce the fear in most citizens concerning their safety.
“Security is one of the key sectors in the growth of any country. Whenever security of a country is affected there cannot be any development in the economic and tourism sector of such countries. We urge the government to take insecurity issues more seriously,” said Dr. Bishop Wambugu.
The residents also called on the government to increase more police posts in the in the area to enhance their security.
“The government should ensure that people have a safe haven to run to incase there is an attack. This is the best gift the government can give Kenyans in the New Year,” said Eunice Wambui, area resident.
