Nominated Senator Issack Mwaura has called for the arrest of Kitui governor Charity Ngilu over alleged inflammatory remarks regarding the ban on charcoals business.
Speaking on Wednesday, Mwaura further called for the arrest of two Kikuyu musicians who released a song mocking the Kamba community.
According to Mwaura, Kikuyu and Kamba have been co-existing until the ban on charcoal happened.
“The NCIC should arrest the two Kikuyu singers. Ngilu should also be arrested because she is the one who began the hate-speech,” Mwaura said.
In the song, two artists Isaiah and Waharaka claim that members of Kamba community depend on mangoes and soon they will eat dogs when mango season is over.
“I really want to condemn that song, it is wrong for anyone to create disharmony between the Kikuyu and the Kamba. Kikuyu’s and Kamba’s are brothers and it is unfair to create hate between them,” he said.
Following the ban, angry Kitui residents set ablaze charcoal-transporting lorries in and out the area.
