Omari says that NICC lacks powers to investigate and prosecute hate speech cases a situation he said has given hate mongers room to instigate the vice.

According to the analyst, NCIC is watching helplessly as some politicians allegedly make hate statements.

“NCIC is helpless and has no capacity to investigate and take action against hate mongers who are threatening to tear down the country,” he said during an interview on citizen TV on Tuesday.

Omari said that NCIC should be disbanded or revamped legally to enable it nail down on incitement perpetrators.

The analyst said that political temperatures are rising in some parts of the country and NCIC together with other government agencies need to act fast.

“By now we should be having some politicians in Uasin Gishu behind bars basing on the statements they are making in their campaigns,” the analyst said.

Mr Omari warned that the country could plug into chaos if hate mongers are not tamed. He said that most politicians have no learnt from the 2007/2208 post poll chaos.

There have been concerns over rising political temperatures and heated political debates between Governor Jackson Mandago and his rival Bundotich Buzeki who is seeking to unseat Mandago as Uasin Gishu governor.

On Monday, NCIC said that it is keenly watching the political events in Uasin Gishu and other parts of the country warning that it will not hesitate to order arrest of politicians who spew hatred.
