Women in Marani area, Kisii County were on Thursday sensitised by political leaders and experts on how they can be empowered economically.
They also got educated on how they can access credit, fight for their rights and raise HIV infection free kids.
Marani ward representative Mr Denis Ombachi said that it will be better if more women are used in creating public awareness amongst themselves.
"It is a great lie that we are not addressing challenges facing women what we ask them is that they appreciate that solutions to some socio-economic issues may not be seen physically," said Mr Ombachi.
On her part, nominated ward rep Clare Obino said that the establishment of small and medium enterprises funds by the county government were women registered groups.
She asked them to apply for loans so as they use them to start small businesses.
Ms Obino also asked women to stand against men who were subjecting them to gender-based violence.
"Women should come out in large numbers and oppose the habit of afew men who are still beating up their wives," she said.
Ms Magdaline Mwebi, the gender boss in Kisii County announced the creation of Sh 10 million fund for the dissabled to access it through their sacco.
"I ask women to seek credit from the affirmative action funds and support each other to put up businesses," she said.
