As the Nairobi county government grapples with garbage littering the streets, the common resident of Kibera is left with no hope of ever walking in clean paths.

Most of the city estates have been complaining of litter, including the well-to-do ones like Lang'ata, South B and other areas like Embakasi and Buruburu.

However, whereas there could be hope for these zones, a big mark of disillusion remains in  Kibera.

To start with, the residence has never had a proper way of disposing litter.

Walking the paths through the slum, one meets garbage strewn all over with little concern from the residents because that seems to be the accepted norm.

The county government has been doing little to ensure the area is litter-free.

Although we have witnessed the Sonko Rescue Team and other county initiatives deployed to estates, Kibera's day seems far away.
