Former Homa Bay gubernatorial candidate on an independent ticket Joseph Oyugi Magwanga, has left a message after the High Court in the County nullified the re-election of his opponent area Governor Cyprian Awiti.
Magwanga successfully petitioned the election citing massive election irregularities.
Judge Joseph Karanja on Tuesday ruled that IEBC did not conduct a free and fair election and ordered for another gubernatorial election.
"The declaration by IEBC of the 3rd respondent as the governor of Homa Bay has now been invalidated," he said.
Magwanga later released a statement after addressing the press, saying:
"I warmly welcome the High court ruling to nullify the Homa bay County Gubernatorial elections.
The ruling gives us hope that indeed devolution can be achieved in the Great Homa bay County.
As a people we have yet another opportunity to elect a Governor who will make Homa bay a better place.
I ask the people of Homa bay to stand up against the thieves who stole our long deserved victory.
Canaan is nigh. Together we shall reach the Promised Land.
Erokamano.
Joseph Oyugi Magwanga."
