The Canadian government has joined other international voices in demanding for the sober handling of the Somalia refugees at the Dadaab camps as more concerns over the whole repatriation matter grows.
Responding to a question presented by York South – Weston’s Somali, the Canadian MP, Ahmed Hussein in his country's Parliamentary session on Friday, Minister for International Affairs and La Francophone, Marie-Claude Bibeau noted her government was very much concerned about Kenya’s decision to disband its refugee affairs department and its intentions to close the refugee camps by September.
This according to news posted on Saturday on the BBC website.
“International refugee regulations and refugees’ rights should be protected, all return processes must be voluntary and effected in accordance with international and domestic laws. Refugees need to be fully protected,” Bibeau stated.
Hussein had sought to know his country’s current position on Kenya’s decision to close the world's largest refugee camp.
