Several actors, artists, singers and media personalities have announced bid to try politics, in the August 8, 2017 general elections.
They have shifted gears from the entertainment industry, hoping to clinch various seats on elections day.
Such Kenyan personalities include:
1. Francis Hamisi alias Frasha of P-Unit music group: Known for his 'Hapa Kule' hit, Frasha has expressed interest in vying for the Athi-River Township ward representative seat in Machakos county. He is vying through a Maendeleo Chap Chap (MCC) party ticket.
2. Charles Njagua Kanyi alias Jaguar: The 'Kigeugeu' hit singer seeks to unseat incumbent Starehe MP Maina Kamanda. Jaguar seeks to send the veteran politician home, through a Jubilee Party ticket. They are both expected to face off in nominations, April 21.
3. Gilbert Baraza alias 'Mchungaji': Known from the weekly Churchil Show, the comedian has also vowed to contest for the Kabiro ward representative seat in Dagoretti North Constituency, Nairobi county.
4. Ralph Masai aka Cannibal: Known for his 'Kichwa Kibovu' song featuring Sharama, Cannibal has been riasing in the entertainment industry. He is eyeing the Mtopanga ward representative seat in Mombasa County.
5. Former QTV presenter Sabina Anyango: She is vying for the Muguma-Ini ward representative seat in Lang'ata constituency, Nairobi.
6. Gakau Kabochi aka DJ Kaytrixx: The DJ has expressed interest in vying for the Mikindani ward representative seat in Mombasa County.
