On Tuesday, Kenyan urban music radio station Capital FM responded to a social media post made by one of their producers, Joe Muchiri.
Muchiri took to social media to drum up support for Kenyan artist Nyashinski following his nomination for the MTV EMA Best African Act Award.
A female violinist named Wanjiru Chenyiza Maina had a few words of criticism for the Kenyan rapper and took to social media to express herself.
"So i pass on Nasty C and Wizkid to vote for Nyashisnki in the name of supporting Kenyan music... People have jokes," her post read.
Her comments drew a lot of mixed reactions especially from Muchiri who did not take kindly to the comments made by the violinist.
The producer responded by saying "Huyu dame atatombwa na cactus, i prayed about that!"
As a result the radio station has come to apologize for the comments made by the producer and that assured their subscribers that action will be taken.
”We would like to make it abundantly clear that we do not support or condone gender based violence or any form of violence. We are therefore dealing with the matter with the seriousness it deserves,” read Capital FM’s statement.
