Numerous individuals and youth organisations have ventured into the car wash business in Athi River town as sources of earning their livelihoods.
The business has employed hundreds of youth who had no sources of income before they got hired to assist in washing cars, motorbikes and even mats in the car wash joints.
A spot check conducted by this reporter revealed that almost all shopping centres and major estates within Athi River town had at least a car wash, some being 50 metres apart.
For instance, there are new car wash establishments at Total filling station along Mombasa Road, others at Little Rock Hotel, Nyambura Stage, Makadara shopping centre has 5 of them with another located at Vanillas Hotel all in Athi River.
The residents' interest in the venture has seen lots of support from well wishers and business tycoons in the area, situation that has led to some youth being supported by local leaders and entrepreneurs to start new and expand their car wash businesses.
Mavoko constituency CDF recently donated eight water tanks to several youth to expand car wash business as James Bruno, a business tycoon in the region donated three car wash machines to local youth.
Bruno who addressed the press in Athi River town on Friday, said that the donations were to help the youth's business expand to ensure they met their objectives as they operated their businesses.
He argued that the contribution was an appreciation to the youth for being creative, innovative and hand working as they struggled to earn livelihoods.
The investor called on individuals of good will from the region to also come up and support young people with different various need adding that by so doing, security was enhanced.
He said he was ready to partner with relevant stakeholders to support community initiatives which would ensure empowered communities as a way of giving back to the society.
