All car wash service vendors using treated water have been asked to cease operations immediately by the Nairobi Water and Sewerage Company (NAWASCO) as the city braces for shortage due to ongoing drought.

The firm’s Managing Director, Philip Gichuki said, that the move is aimed at conserving water as the vendors use treated water to wash vehicles which is prejudicial during these difficult times.

He further issued a warning of stern measures which will be taken against operators and Car Wash owners who flout the order.

This measure comes barely two weeks after the firm started rationing water in the city which began on January 1.
