A middle-aged man who works at a carpentry workshop at White House estate in Nakuru town was Friday morning rushed to hospital by good Samaritans after he was found injured in a sewer.
The carpenter was rushed to Nakuru General Hospital in a critical condition after he was discovered lying at the sewer with deep wound on his face and neck believed to have been inflicted by a knife.
According to the carpenter’s nephew Joseph Omari who stays with him at a rented single house in the estate, his uncle Peter Ondieki failed to turn up Thursday night after he reportedly had been spotted at a drinking joint in the area yesterday evening.
The nephew said he suspects his uncle was attacked by criminals and robbed as he had earned his salary on Thursday.
“I know he normally engaged in overconsumption of alcohol after earning. He was seen drinking yesterday evening but he did not turn up at home. He might have been attacked by criminals who were after his money,” said Omari.
Omari said he was informed by a neighbour about the incident in the morning before rushing at the scene.
According to the area sub Chief James Karanja, the carpenter was still under the influence of alcohol when he was rushed to hospital. He added that he could have been drinking for the better part of the night at an unknown venue.
