Academicians have been urged to engage in more locally oriented research and publishing to boost academic programmes at the university as well as the health sector in the country.
Egerton University Nakuru Town Campus College Principal Prof. Lennah Nakhone said this while addressing the faculty’s staff during an end of year party held at the health sciences faculty.
‘Our staff should get involved in more locally oriented research to generate more knowledge and information. This is for the development of our academic services as well as the health sector in the country,’’ said Prof Nakhone.
She noted that there was a need for more research in local medicine and health matters adding that findings on such would go as far as assisting improve the health sector of the country as well as helping to boost training in the sector.
Prof Nakhone observed that the faculty was undergoing tremendous expansions and that more academic facilities were needed to boost its service delivery.
At the same time the principle noted that Egerton University was among the few higher learning institutions in the country that offers advanced courses in health sciences.
Prof Nakhone further encouraged the academic staff to carry out research and publish the findings to maintain high standards for the university’s academic goals.
