Embattled Nandi Hills Member of Parliament Alfred Keter now claims nullification of his win is part of a wider ploy by cartels to silence him.
Keter who addressed hundreds of his supporters in Eldoret town moments after High Court Judge Kanyi Kimondo declared his win null and void said he was being fought by powerful individuals out to grab tea estates in Nandi.
The vocal MP, however, said he will not be shaken and that he will continue fighting against corruption in government.
“This is a very big fight I am in because cartels I have been fighting are all after me. However, I will not relent speaking against them,” said Keter amid cheers from his supporters.
“I am not surprised by this ruling but what concerns me is the common 'mwananchi' who might be affected in case those fighting me because they have set eyes on the tea states in Nandi Hills succeed,” he added.
The MP who has been branded as a rebel in Jubilee party, however, noted that he will consult with his lawyers before making a decision on his next move.
Justice Kimondo while nullifying Nandi Hills parliamentary elections said the petitioner, Barnard Kitur had proved his allegations that Keter conducted illegal campaigns on 6th and 7th of August 2017.
He also directed that his judgement be forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for further investigations and prosecution of Keter over the electoral malpractices he committed.
