A case in which a Nakuru County executive committee member is being accused of not being qualified to hold any government office was on Tuesday adjourned by the Nakuru High Court.
Nakuru County Government had been sued by Counties Efficiency Development for having appointed Francis Mathea, who is the Finance Executive, knowing very well that he does not meet the academic qualifications that are needed for such a post.
The County Government requested the High Court to adjourn the case, to get more time to change their advocate.
Speaking to journalists immediately after the adjournment, Francis Mathea termed the case as a fatally defective case, since there was no constitutional issues, which were raised to warrant the suit.
“All I can tell you is that this case is a wastage of time since there is not constitutional issue that has been raised to prove that I am not fit to be in office. I know I am very qualified to be in the office and that is why I was appointed and the assembly had confidence in me,” said Mathea.
Mathea went ahead and assured all the people of Nakuru that he is very fit to be in office, and that he will continue serving them as the constitution requires of him.
“I have no doubt telling you that I will continue doing the good job that I have been doing, and we shall see Nakuru County being the best county in the country. The NGO is being used by my enemies and also the enemies of development to ensure that I am not in office hence slowing down the development and also for their own personal gains,” he added.
The case was adjourned till the July 10.
