Rampant pick pocketing and theft related cases which have escalated in Kikuyu town recently, have left residents worried.
According to some of the victims, the pickpockets have succeeded in executing their plans especially in public gatherings.
Speaking in Kikuyu town, James Kamau, who recently lost his phones to a pickpocket twice in a row, lamented that the vice had become order of the day.
Kamau said that his recent phone was pick-pocketed while he alighted from a matatu at the bus terminus.
Women have also been a target of the menace with a number of them confessing that they have at least lost valuables to these criminals in different incidents.
"I lost Sh 2000 while shopping for vegetables at the marketplace. The pickpocket allegedly took advantage of the crowded market and reaped my handbag which had the money as I was busy choosing fresh vegetables," narrated Hannah Kariuki.
Area police boss, Mutune Maweo, said the public has to be extremely cautious with their valuables while operating in town, especially in crowded places.
He noted the menace has been on rise since they have recorded quite a number of cases in the recent past.
