A 20-year-old casual labourer was arraigned before a Makadara Court to answer to charges of abducting a university student and demanding sex.
Mr Martin Oduor was being charged together with another man not before the court with kidnapping a 19-year-old girl on February 7 on Juja Road.
The prosecution told the court that the accused together with his accomplice accosted the girl after she alighted from a matatu claiming the accused was interested in sexual favours from the student.
Senior principal magistrate Angelo Kithinji heard that the student had attended classes and was on her way home in the afternoon when the incident happened.
The two men forcibly took her to Oduor’s house which was far from the road and during the struggle to force her into the house, the girl sustained serious injuries on her hand and leg.
According to the Star, there was a scuffle in the house later on when the accused demanded for sex but the student refused to give in.
At around 7pm in the evening, Mr Oduor fell asleep and the complainant called for help.
The student’s mother had however reported her daughter missing after she failed to come back home and with the help of the police they managed to trace her to the house which lead to Mr Oduor’s arrest.
The accused however denied the charges before the court and magistrate Kithinji released him on a Sh200,000 bond.
The case will be heard on July 3.
