A 28-year- old casual labourer will spend up to one week at Elmentaita police station after he denied defilement charges at a Nakuru court.
Mr Julius Wanyoike is accused of defiling a 17-year-old Turkana girl at Kampi Turkana village in Gilgil sub-county on August 31 this year.
Police officers from Elmentaita police station arrested him on August 1 after he allegedly committed the offence.
The suspect is also facing an alternative charge of indecent act.
Appearing before principal magistrate James Mwaniki, the suspect denied the charges and was released on a Sh200,000 bond and a surety of a similar amount.
The prosecution, led by Inspector Sirorei Rop, however requested that the accused be remanded until September 8 to allow for more investigations, a plea the court allowed.
The case will be heard on October 24 this year.
