Kisii County casual workers have raised concerns over a delay in salary payment that has now hit five months.

The workers, led by Mr Dickson Motari said the county is paying them peanuts at a time when ward representatives and county staff were busy embezzling funds.

“The county is able to fund MCAs and other county staff to travel outside the country but we are yet to receive our pay since  September,” said Mr Motari.

He said that despite the workers missing their salaries, they were still required to report to work.

"All the workers have been reporting to work despite missing salaries. We now ask Governor James Ongwae to intervene and ensure that we get our pay," he added.

According to him, they were forced to contact journalists after efforts to reach the Governor proved futile.
