Speaking on Tuesday at Nyaronge, the site for the proposed hospital, Catechist Philip Oginga said Vatican had authorised the project that it will fully fund as from May this year.

He said intensive negotiations between the authorities, church and local community led to the unanimous decision that the hospital be built at Nyaronge due to the presence of large tracks of public land.

Oginga said Nyansiongo parish under the leadership of Father Alfred Matano will oversee the project that is estimated to take about eight months.

“I have been sent here by father Matano to spread a good message. Our Catholic Church through the support from Vatican has secured Sh100 million that will be used to build a hospital here,” he said.

“The local community, authorities and the church had settled on this region. The church will oversee the entire exercise,” he added.

He asked the local community to provide required labour during the construction in the owner of the former parish coordinator, Father Alloys Grachianno, who later on retired to his ancestral home in Italy.

“The community will be required to avail necessary support during the construction. Remember this is the dream of Father Alloys who really wanted to initiate the project,” he said.
