Speaking from his St Patrick’s Thika office today the priest said that the school belongs to the Catholic Church and the county government ought to have used the right procedure to challenge that fact.

He said that there are many schools and hospitals that belonged to the church but were surrendered to the government to manage and maintain them. He said that Madaraka primary School was started by Assumption Sisters and all documents are registered and bear the title Assumption Sisters of Nairobi.

“This is the reason why the government did not refuse to give back the school to the church since it is registered to the Assumption Sisters of Nairobi. No document belonging to the school had been altered or changed,” he said.

“The government was to manage the school and now the sisters will do that although the teachers are provided by the government. We are not going to use force to challenge the county government but we are going to use the right legal means to get what belongs to the church for the best of the society,” he added.

He further said that they have no differences with county government and they are doing their best to resolve the matters without conflicting. The priest stated that the church has dealt with the government for a long time and it can’t afford to have conflicts noting that since their mission is to help the society, the residents should agree with the decision the court will make.
