Cattle rustling suspect was shot dead Sunday night and 3 others escaped with bullet injuries while attempting to steal cattle in Nyakach, Kisumu County.
Speaking to journalists in Kisumu, County Commissioner Erastus Ekidor said that they were 7 suspects from Kericho County who attempted to steal cattle belonging to South East Nyakach member of county assembly.
"It was lucky we got the information earlier and police were informed. They waited when they were about to pick some cattle from the MCA's homestead and then ambushed them," said Ekidor.
He added: "The police engaged them and killed one on the spot. Three of the suspects escaped with bullet injuries."
He said the three suspects who escaped with injuries are well known and that they are following communication from Kericho County on their whereabouts.
"We are engaging the Kericho County security team to make sure they arrest those who ran away with bullet injuries," he said.
He urged the community members to report the suspects of cattle rustling and help the government stop the cartel.
