The cause of the National Super Alliance (Nasa) presidential candidate illness has been revealed.
Raila who had successfully completed the Nasa campaign rallies in Kilifi county, Sunday, was rushed to a Mombasa hospital Sunday evening over suspected food poisoning.
The former prime minister was discharged from the hospital the same day after being checked up by doctors.
Raila’s advisor, Salim Lone has affirmed that the Opposition chief’s illness was caused by food poising.
According to Lone, The ODM’s chief ailment was caused by a meal he had had for lunch during his series of rallies.
“Mr. Odinga was certain that his problems arose from fish that he had eaten for lunch. None of his Nasa colleagues had taken that dish.”
Addressing the press, Monday, at the Okoa Kenya office in Nairobi, Raila’s advisor said his Dr Oluoch Olunya who arrived at the hospital after being notified of Odinga’s situation, indicated the symptoms were entirely consistent with the politician’s instinctive self-diagnosis.
“By the time he landed at Mombasa airport, his tummy was a bit painful and he went straight to the bathroom with a case of diarrhea. He also threw up,” noted Lone.
“Blood tests were taken and he was put on drip to rehydrate him from the fluid loss suffered. It was an immense relief when at 1.10 this morning, he sort of bounded the Amref plain steps when it landed at Wilson airport!” Lone added.
The Nasa flag bearer had earlier told the public he was in god health, saying he was as fit as a fiddle, after being discharged from hospital.
