Bowel is a part or division of the intestines, usually the large intestine. It is a part of the alimentary canal that help in the whole process of digestion. From a biological point of view, bowel function as absorbing the nutrients from what people eat and drink. They also absorb water from waste hence creating stool.
Medically, changes in the bowel habits are caused by a wide range of conditions mainly the chronic conditions.

Crohn’s disease
It is a bowel malady that causes inflammation of the digestive tract which can lead to severe abdominal pain, diarrhea, malnutrition and so on. It is reported the malady is a causing factor of changes in bowel habits.
Celiac disease
It is a autoimmune disorder that affects the small intestines. The malady occurs in people with genetically predisposed. The disease is contributing factor of changes in bowel habits.
Diverticulosis
It is a condition of small pouches, formed along the mucosa of the colon. The ailment causes changes in bowel habits as well.
Thyroid disorder
It is serious that affects the thyroid glands, they bar the glands from producing hormones accordingly. The disease is a contributing factor of changes in bowel habits.
Other causing factors include ulcerative colitis and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
