A press conference by Nairobi CBD Association ended in disarray after a group of heavily built men stormed the venue and beat up the chairman who had called the meeting to address the problems facing business people.
The attackers however claimed that that Muruiki was a conman hired to tarnish Governor Mike Sonko's name.
They roughed him up, tore his shirt and drugged him away by the collar of his coat shortly after he started speaking. One was heard saying, 'tunakujua, hatutakuacha uharibu jina ya Gavana. Haitawekazana(We know you.We won't allow you to tarnish the Governor's name. That's is impossible. )'
The goons forced the chairman out of the hotel's gate where he was attacked by more people who had been waiting there. They tore his coat, punched and kicked him, forcing him to run to Norfolk towers for safety.
The concerns that the chairman had to raise and which were in written note, acknowledge that Sonko had to fulfil his promises to Nairobians, which stated that Nairobi needs improvement in areas such as drainage and solid waste management but says, ' it's escapist, unrealistic and misleading to attribute (it's) woes to a single institution, let alone the Governor.
