Citizen Convention Party (CCP) leader Grace Akumu is now calling on the international community to intervene and help solve the current political situation in the Country.
Speaking to the press in Kisumu on Monday, Akumu said we need an external arbiter to come and help President Uhuru Kenyatta and National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga to break the political stalemate.
She says religious leaders and other institutions cannot help the two leaders to forge a common ground, ahead of the fresh presidential election scheduled for this Thursday.
“We are almost seeing what we do not want to see, and experiencing what we don’t want to experience. That is civil strife, and we might go beyond civil strife to civil war,” she warned.
She said women and children will bare all the brunt, if this country was to witness a repeat of the 2007/2008 post election violence.
President Kenyatta insists that the fresh polls must go on as planned, whereas Odinga remains steadfast that the planned poll should be rescheduled to allow Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission more time to put the house in order, before Kenyans can go to the ballot.
