A waitress colluded with a night guard to steal Sh47,000 belonging to a Nakuru-based restaurant, a Nakuru court has heard.
Lucy Wanjiku, a cashier who was testifying in a case where Martha Wangari and Moses Karani are accused of stealing the cash from Shadevilla restaurant on July 27, 2014, told senior resident magistrate Loice Komingoi that CCTV cameras captured the two on their act.
Wanjiku said CCTV cameras captured the duo opening the cash box at the at wee hours of the night after other workers at the restaurant had left.
She told the court that the duo had conspired to hide the keys which they later used to make away with the cash.
“The CCTV captured all their moves as they committed the crime,” Wanjiku told court.
The court heard that the two were arrested the following day while still at their work station after the CCTV footage was retrieved.
The court ordered the prosecution to avail the CCTV footage in court during next hearing of the case on March 11.
