[Photo: Wavinya Ndeti]A section of leaders from the Chama Cha Uzalendo (CCU) have defended Machakos governorship aspirant Wavinya Ndeti, following her disqualification.The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) dispute resolution tribunal barred her from vying, Thursday.The former Kathiani MP was the leader of CCU, before decamping to Wiper Democratic Movement - Kenya, where she was nominated during party primaries, to vie.Wavinya was barred after the IEBC dispute tribunal found out that her Wiper nomination was irregular, for she was a member of two parties during nomination."As at the time of the nomination of Ndeti, she was both a member of CCU and Wiper party which is against the law," said the panel.Led by Yatta MP Francis Mwangangi, the leaders said CCU had documentations proving Wavinya had resigned as the CCU leader and member."We have prove that Wavinya resigned from CCU before heading to Wiper. She is not a member of two parties," said Mwangangi.Addressing the press, they accused Wavinya's rivals of being behind her tribulations.She has since pledged to be on the ballot, despite the disqualification.Wavinya who faces rivalry from incumbent Machakos governor Dr Alfred Mutua, said her lawyers have appealed the disqualification.
