The National Constituency Development Fund Management Board has announced that the CDF draft Bill will be presented before parliament by the end of this month.
The board’s acting chairman Elias Mbau said MPs had even passed budgetary allocation for CDF for the financial year 2015/16.
Mbau said MPs must now pass the draft Bill that will operationalize CDF in line with the new constitution.
“MPs are really waiting for this draft Bill like yesterday, and the moment it lands in parliament it will be passed,” he said.
He said the board, alongside the Parliamentary Select Committee on CDF is working round the clock to take views from Kenyans before coming up with the Bill.
Speaking to the press in Kisumu on Monday during a public forum on the CDF, Mbau noted that there were a few sections in the CDF Act that did not conform to the new constitution.
He said CDF has about 40 clauses, and only four were found to be offensive to the constitution.
The chairman cautioned leaders against misleading Kenyans that CDF has been scrapped following the High Court ruling.
Mbau observed that leaders should get acquainted with the ruling before they comment on the matter noting that CDF has not been outlawed.
“The information going out to the public from our leaders are misleading,” he said.
The former Maragua MP said views of the public will be taken into account including retaining CDF but not under MPs.
