Koinange said that CDF has transformed the lives of Kenyans and can therefore not be scrapped or entrusted to county governments which have been on the spotlight over misappropriation of public funds.

"CDF has unmistakably transformed many people's lives. People at the grassroots can feel its presence on the ground even after the county governments came in," Koinange told journalists on Monday in Kiambaa.

He said that a law to align the fund with the new Constitution is in the pipeline and therefore there should be no fear that it will be scrapped.

The MP also appealed to the county governments to make use of the funds allocated to them to bring development to the people.

"The county governments have a responsibility of ensuring that money allocated to them goes to the right use. Their priority should be development which is the only way to change people's lives," he said.
