The public participation forum was launched at Imani guest house in Nakuru where hundreds appeared to air out their views on Wednesday.

According to the Acting CDF CEO Yusuf Mbuno, they were targeting fourteen counties in bid to seek the wananchis opinion on who should be the patron of the kitty.

“We would like to analyse if the kitty has been beneficial to the residents and if it should be handed to the county government with the governor as its patron,” said Mbuno.

Mbuno pointed out that CDF has only handled Sh172 million in the 12 years it had been in existence compared with the Sh282 million a county got annually.

He noted that members of the public were free to submit written proposals to their board.

“We are also encouraging the Non Governmental organisations, civil societies and residents who cannot make it to the public forums to submit their view through a memorandum before our board,” said Mbuno.

Mbuno cited they would also visit Eldoret, Kisumu, Machakos and Kakamega to address the public grievances.

Speaking in the same forum Nakuru West MP Samuel Arama said that MPs should be the custodians of the kitty as they were more in touch with the people.

“We are the ones who understand the plight of the people more and handing it over to the county will be dangerous as most governors do not reach the grassroots,” said Arama.
