Mavoko MP, Patrick Makau, has rubbished the move to abolish Constituency Development Fund (CDF).
Addressing the press in Athi River town on Friday, Makau auded various development projects implemented through support of Constituency Development Fund across the country.
He argued that the fund have adversely contributed to improvement of development of sound infrastructure in the nation and therefore should neither be scraped off nor transferred to the counties.
"CDF has done a lot of development in the entire country ranging from school fee bursaries, construction of bridges, building of schools, health facilities and provision of water to communities thereby improving livelihoods," said Makau.
Makau said his office was apparently constructing four residential houses for doctors stationed at the Athi River Health Centre to enhance quality and promote medical services delivery in the facility.
“Scrapping the fund will interfere with vital projects in the constituency,” notes Makau.
The legislature said the fund is there to stay revealing the national assembly intends to increase the kitty's allocation by 10 percent in the next financial year.
Some of the residents from Mavoko who were interviewed by this reporter on their reactions to whether the fund should be gotten away from hands of legislatures said law makers should retain it.
They said were satisfied with the way the law makers implemented the fund and questioned why governors were pushing for devolution of more funds where most of them could not account for lots of funds under their custodians already.
